The holiday season can be a time of joy, but for many, it also brings feelings of loss and sadness.

To support those navigating grief during this time, the New Lenox Safe Communities Coalition, in conjunction with Rose & Rae Hair Studio, is hosting Light for the Loved: A Holiday Grief Craft Event on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 7:00–8:00 PM at the Village Hall Community Room (1 Veterans Parkway, New Lenox, IL 60451).

This relaxed, supportive gathering will offer participants the opportunity to create personalized ornaments in honor of a loved one who has passed.

Crafting materials will include white feathers, angel ornaments, birthstone beads, ribbons, and more—allowing each person to create something meaningful and unique.

Participants are welcome to bring a photo or a keepsake to incorporate into their ornament.

In addition to the crafting activity, the evening will feature a “round table” grief support conversation, providing a safe space for attendees to share memories, express emotions, and connect with others who understand the challenges of loss.

The event will include intention cards, a brief breathing exercise, and the comforting presence of therapy dogs, offering gentle emotional support.

Light refreshments such as cookies and water will be provided. This event is open to all community members who wish to find comfort, creativity, and connection during the holiday season.
