Overview:
“ThinkFirst for Parents of Teen Drivers” is a 60-minute evidence-based traffic safety program to educate parents on the Graduated Drivers Licensing (GDL) law.
The goal of the program is to reduce new driver crashes and the resulting injuries and fatalities by increasing parents’ awareness and enforcement of the GDL law.
This engaging and informative program is rooted in injury prevention education and focuses on reducing teen crashes—the leading cause of injury and death among adolescents.
ThinkFirst uses real-world data, proven safety strategies, and practical guidance to help parents take an active role in shaping safe driving habits.
During this session, you will learn:
• Why teen drivers are at higher risk—and the most common causes of crashes
• How Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) laws are designed to protect new drivers
• The critical role of parental involvement in reducing risky behaviors behind the wheel
• Effective ways to set rules, monitor driving, and coach your teen through real-life situations
• How to model safe driving behaviors that teens are more likely to follow
By staying involved and setting clear expectations, parents can significantly reduce the risk of accidents and help teens build lifelong safe driving habits.
We encourage all parents and guardians of current or soon-to-be teen drivers to attend. This one hour could make a lasting impact on your teen’s safety—and your peace of mind!
Please feel free to share this opportunity with other families in your community!
